What a crazy time we live in right now. The year 2020 has be rocky for us all, and we are all dealing with multiple scares and letdowns. Every middle school grad has had to adjust to a completely different end to this season of life.
Capturing this special time for K, was a honor. I warned her before the session that I was itching for a portrait session to play with, and that I might be a little overly excited to shoot. She took it all in stride. We were blessed with a great location right in her backyard. The flowers were in bloom, the buildings and fences gave great settings, and she had an awesome attitude.
We were dodging rain storms and wind all day, and finally found a chunk of time to capture some photos. Then we fought the sun that would randomly come out and play RIGHT when I was about to snap a shot. It made for lots of little chit chats and silly joking, as well as some shots left behind. She was a great sport in the sometimes sticky heat, and followed my cues perfectly.
After years of smiling sans teeth due to braces, this girl finally showed off some of her great toothy smiles. I may have utilized some fun jokes about dentures to get her to giggles and smile naturally. I have no problem being silly to get more natural expressions. See if you can spot the image below where I told her to, “Look off toward the sky…like the bright future ahead of you!” Then see if you can spot the image of her reaction to my cheesy line!
Again, I was thrilled to capture this time for this middle school grad. Shooting with K was so much fun, lots of laughter, and a much needed “back to normal” for myself.
