It’s November. Some people are already decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving is even here. So I thought I would share some gift ideas for toddlers.
Are people asking you for Christmas ideas for your family yet? I started getting the requests in October. So I knew I needed to get my lists in order.
I personally use Amazon Wish Lists for my entire family. It helps me keep everything in one lace since I can add things from website all over the internet, and then just let family members join to see the list. Some times I still end up with duplicates, but I still feel like it makes things so much easier. I also keep the lists running throughout the year as we need clothes and such and it makes holidays so much easier.
Below you will find some gift ideas for toddlers. Many of them are currently on my toddler’s wish list for the holidays, as well as a few that are house favorites for him at the moment.
Rainbow Stacker
This is a wish list item for us. I love rainbow stackers. I also love natural colors, so this is my preferred version. There are also brightly colored ones. These curved pieces nestle together to create a rainbow, but they can also be stacked up on one another, used to create toy slides, little tables, designs, and whatever else the imagination can think up.
Chalkboard Wall Cling
Chalkboard anywhere, anytime! This is something you can put up and take down as needed. No need to paint or have a clunky chalkboard taking up space.
Play Tunnel
We love our tunnel! So much fun and play. It’s a great way to get out some energy when you can’t go outside as well. My little guy loves to get the tunnel out and open it up himself. Then he loves to crawl through and roll around as well.
Nativity
It’s like a dollhouse with a religious theme. I love the idea of having a play “house” nativity for the kids to play with through the holiday season and beyond. It would be such a great teaching tool as well.
Wooden Blocks
Plain and simple. So many play opportunities in one thing. I love blocks and watching with the boys can come up with with simple objects.
Doll House
We definitely have the ikea dollhouse on our wish list. My toddler loves playing with his “baby” and moving people around. I think he would love having a doll house to explore. I like that this one is simple, and furniture free. It goes with my minimalist preferences.
Mud Kitchen
This is a high priced item specifically, but is one that can just as easily be made at home for much less. I love letting kids play and get dirty. It may not be the best winter gift, but I love them so much, I wanted to include them. Kids can also use them as snow kitchens in the winter.
Magformers
We love our magformers. We bought them when my first was a toddler and he loved them. I like them for younger ones because they are a bit easier to grip and handle with the open insides. They are not the cheapest of toys, but I didn’t feel like we needed a whole lot of them to create lots of play options. My boys love playing with them, sorting them, snapping them together, and smashing them.
Train set
My toddler is obsessed with trains. He will set up (sometimes he needs help) his tracks and just “choo choo” for hours some times. I love watching him (but no direct eye contact!)
Bus with People
Things that go are a huge win in this house. My boys also love busses. They love to watch the kids get dropped off in the afternoons. Having a larger bus WITH people would be a blast for them. That’s why this one is a definite on our wish list this year.
Trampoline
Get your jumps out! I love having a trampoline. I do feel like we use it in spurts, but when the boys seem to have lots of energy and no where to run, I tell them to go get their jumps out. Sometimes they just randomly jump a few times on the way to grabbing another toy, or closing a blind for the night. Either way they are using up some energy, helping their balance, and flushing their lymphatic system to strengthen their health. (That last one always gets an eye roll from the hubby!)
Play Kitchen
My toddler LOVES to “cook” me food. We don’t have a lot of accessories for our kitchen, just a few pots and pans. We don’t have any food because I don’t want to clean up food everywhere. But my toddler simply turns other toys into food. He also sometimes turns FOOD into play food. So I do have to check the “pantry” from time to time.
Tea set
Again, my toddler loves to “cook” for me. They both love to have tea parties and hot cocoa parties with me and I just feel like this would be a great play item to have on the wish list this year.
Bounce House
A friend mentioned this one to me. I’m not convinced that I really have the room for it, but it does look so nice for winter weather. My kids both discovered bounce houses this last Spring and they LOVE them. What a great way to expend some energy!
Tool Set
My toddler loves tools and helping. Most kiddos in this age range are all about helping. He always wants his own tools when I’m working on a project. It would be great for him to have his own so he can practice his skills. I definitely plan to get them both working with tools as soon as I can!
House Slippers
This one was a recent add when the boys both started stealing my house socks. They want to wear them all the time, so I guess it’s time to get them some of their own since we are a family that removes shoes indoors.
Color/Shape Sorter Clock
I’m in a stage where I’m teaching one kid about numbers and time and the other about colors and shapes. So this toy seems perfect! I love toys that have multiple purposes and span multiple ages/stages.
Wooden Camera
As a photographer, I think my kiddos lean towards cameras as well. They want to imitate what they see. I think this would be a great “starter” camera for my toddler. Something he can pretend with, but not have to worry about dropping!
And there you have it, my list of gift ideas for toddlers.
