I love family sessions. And this one at Mill Creek Streamway Park in Shawnee was gorgeous.
First of all we had a little one celebrating his first year! He was feeling under the weather but still rocked it with some fun help from Mommy. He’s a busy cruiser according to his Mama, but since he wasn’t at 100%, he was more interested in sitting and relaxing. I’m glad I grabbed the car to give him something to enjoy!
We captured his shots first to make sure he was in the best mood possible. Then we got some fun images of the WHOLE crew. A family of 6, a family of 4, and Grandma and Grandpa. They were taking full advantage of all being in the same place at the same time!
Candid Fun
I’ve said before, and I’ll say it again: candid shots are always some of my favorite. I always warn people that if they hear my camera when they aren’t ready, or didn’t know I wasn’t shooting yet, it probably means I just saw a super cute moment and I’m trying to grab it before anyone notices and reacts.
Siblings. Most parents want images of their children individually and together without Mom and Dad, and I’m all about letting different people get in the spotlight. These kiddos were all about it too! They did great, and were so well coordinated by their Mama with an awesome eye for clothing!
Mill Creek Streamway Park
Do you just LOVE that light?!?! I mean seriously. It was gorgeous. I was so glad to be introduced to this park area. Even if I went to the wrong one at first. Photographer FAIL! I knew there were multiple Mill Creek Streamway Parks, but I didn’t know there were TWO one Midland Drive and that I was selecting the wrong one.
FYI, the OTHER Mill Creek Streamway Park on Midland Drive just North of this location…also had great shooting spots. I might need to go back for a styled session!
Grandma & Grandpa
Grandparents always bring a great dynamic to any photo session. I love getting to break out into different groups, and seeing the grandkids goof around with Grandma and Grandpa. Not to mention this set of grandparents live in a different country. These images will be great for them to take back home with them, as well as great for the grandkids to have in their own home.
I was obsessed with this bridge and pathway at the park. The lighting was gorgeous and the backdrop perfect. The only problem that we had was that other people knew how awesome it was too. We were dodging bikes and walkers the entire time. Not a big deal, especially because one of the girls was AWESOME at warning us. I mean seriously, it’s not the easiest to look out when you’re looking through a camera. She was a HUGE help.
Because of the constant onslaught of people, we didn’t do much sitting. I was worried that If I sat anyone down, our reaction time would prove painful. No injuries during sessions please!
Something I always make sure to capture, is Mama and Daddy. I’m still so surprised when couples are surprised that I suggest these images. I mean, how often do they get a photo of just the two of them? These two, however, were all about it. I basically just told them a general spot to stand, and before I could say anything else they were striking poses and ding my job for me. I just stood there and captured it, and I loved it!
