Happy Easter!
Oh, Easter, how I love you. The pastels, the eggs, the bunnies, the crosses, the family time, the church events, the celebration of the cornerstone of my faith. What’s not to love! I knew I needed to do an easter mini shoot for the boys.
As usual, I ended up finding WAY too many Easter themed props that I loved, and spent days arranging and rearranging them and getting frustrated. I forgot how to attach fans to my backdrop and they fell down the first time. Then I wanted EVERYTHING in the photos…because they were all so cute! But I always have this internal struggle with minis…I LOVE set ups with lots of props to fill up the scene, but I also LOVE minimal set ups with only one or two things for the kids to interact with. So that conflict rages for a few days until I give up and call it good. Then eventually I love it. I guess that’s just my process.
This set up included an awesome chair that my mom found for me at a flea market. It was already painted perfectly. I simply had to saw off the legs. Easy peasy. What I didn’t know about this chair at the time was that my youngest, Wyatt, would attach himself to it. He would try to sneak into the studio area simply to set on it. Some days he melted down if anyone else sat on it. So, getting photos of him this time around was EASY.
BUT! ONE of them ALWAYS has to fight me on photos. This time it was Liam’s turn. He did not want photos. If he would sit up there, then his eyes were closed. Or he would turn his back to the camera. Move in a soft, fluffy blanket, or hand him some bunny ears? All set. So thankfully I got a few shots of him as well!
I also managed some cute ones together. I always have lower expectations for the group shots. It’s harder to get them to cooperate, but they are still adorable moments.
Did you do anything special to capture your Easter this year?
